I Graduated in 1990 as a Pilot Officer and had to change careers in 1991 to become a Logistics officer.
In 1998, during a mission in Baghdad, Iraq, I met my future Scottish wife. We decided to start our life together in the UK as I was able to speak English but she did not speak Spanish. at the time. We got married in 1999. The same year I took an MBA in the UK and started working in the corporate world for the following 20 years.
Work moved me from UK to Mexico and then to the USA. I have been lucky enough to travel all over the world having visited around 17 countries since 2000.
Fate reunited me with pen and paper, brush and canvas in 2014 and since then I have not stopped producing art and experimenting with new techniques or subjects.
Over the las few years, I have participated in several Art fairs and have sold around 90 pieces and commissions to the public.
Because I want to try to share the emotions, feelings or memories that a painting or drawing can convey for us humans.
My style is just like my inside my head: All over the place; it depends on what the mood is that day. I have an ambidextrous brain that continuously shifts from rational to passionate and back again.

My main influences come from Dali, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Claudio Bravo, Thomas Somerscales, Monet, Vermeer, Degas, Bacon, and a guy I used to dislike because I did not understand him... a so called Picasso.
I do not see things linearly but in 4 dimensions; everything can be seen from different perspectives from where you can draw different answers or solutions to one problem. A flower can be seen from the top, from the bottom, when it's dry and dead or when is just starting to blossom. It can be soft or can be deconstructed into geometric figures...
it is because of this scattered brain of mine, I can and like to do portraits (people and pets), seascapes, sunsets or sunrises, and abstract compositions. I do however also paint still life, objects, flowers... almost anything that may trigger an emotions.
Acrylics and Charcoal are my preferred mediums but I also enjoy oil pastels, ink/watercolors, soft pastels, graphite, markers... anything but oil.
My technique varies from a more photorealistic, detailed faithful to the original looks to those pieces with fast, unrestricted traces to create the illusion of a figure.
Lately, I have been working on something I call the "Topographic" portrait. This technique basically create layers like those you see in some navigation charts or physical terrain maps. I have also been doing "One Line" pieces where the idea is to create shadows and shapes without lifting the pen from the canvas or paper. The feedback I am getting for these pieces it has been overwhelmingly positive; with people really liking how different the paintings or drawings look.

It depends. I have pieces I have been able to do in a few hours to others that I have been trying to finish for years. It all depends on the technique, style and size. For commissions, this is normally discussed upfront and agreed in a contract. It normally takes me up to 3-4 weeks depending on workload.
Again, it depends on size, technique and style. A good rule of Thumb is to use $/sq in using a $1.5-$2.2/sq in depending on complexity.
A picture of the subject is the minimum to start. If you want more character, then several pictures or an interview with the subject or visiting the location to be painted may be necessary.
